“Ceramics and Kintsugi”- Enjoying Matcha with Kintsugi Tea Bowl

The event "Ceramics and Kintsugi - Enjoying Matcha with a Kintsugi Tea Bowl," starting at 6:30 pm on March 26th. As the sun slowly sets, explore the world of ceramics and kintsugi, and discover the beauty of impermanence and the passage of time.

What you'll learn:

In the 1st part, unfold the world of timeless beauty with Kumiko Jitsukawa, founder of Ki-Chu New York, as she explores the charm of Japanese ceramics. Discover how to enhance its beauty with use and create a unique and personalized aesthetic over time.

In the 2nd part, join us in welcoming kintsugi artist makomako who will delve into the art of kintsugi, unraveling its significance and providing insights into the step-by-step process of repairing and enhancing broken ceramics. Understand that Kintsugi is not just a repair method.

What you'll experience:

As the evening extends, enjoy the lecture at the beggining parts with delicate flavors of cherry blossom tea in exquisite tea cups by ceramic artist Kifumi Kawamura. In the Japanese lunar calendar, January marks the start of spring, yet cherry blossoms also symbolize impermanence. Savor this unique moment, never to be encountered again.

As a highlight of the event, savor traditional Japanese sweets accompanied by matcha in tea bowls with the intricate art of kintsugi by makomako.
